KOKRAJHAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) today announced its eight candidates who will be contesting the ensuing Assam assembly elections.
Somnath Narzary will be contesting from Gossaigaon.
Manaranjan Brahma will be contesting from Kokrajhar West.
Lawrence Islary will be contesting from Kokrajhar East.

Jayanta Basumatary will be contesting from Sidli.
Phanin Boro will be contesting from Bijni.
Leho Ram Boro will be contesting from Tamulpur.
Bhupen Boro will be contesting from Barama.
Urkhao Gwra Brahma will be contesting from Chapaguri.
Notably, this will be former All Bodo Students' Union leader Lawrence Islary's first election.
BJP is contesting the polls in Assam in alliance with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL). Out of the 12 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region, the UPPL will contest from eight seats and BJP from four.
Polling for the 126-member Assam assembly will be held on March 27, April 1 and April 6. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
