BAKSA: In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old man was allegedly killed by an elephant in Tamulpur area of Baksa district in Assam on Friday.
The deceased identified as Koze Wary was a resident of Anthaibari village in Tamulpur near the Indo-Bhutan border.
Reportedly, the incident took place on Friday when an wild elephant from the hills nearby was roaming around the village. The victim was on his way to collect water from a stream at the hills. The elephant reportedly attacked Wary injuring him severely.
The family members with the help of the residents of the area, rushed Wary to the Kumarikata Healthcare Centre for emergency treatment. He was later referred to Guwahati for further treatment.
Even though Wary was admitted at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), he later succumbed to his injuries
The deceased's last rites were carried out at his village on Saturday.
