An explosion in a foam factory in the Tinsukia district in Assam took place today afternoon. The incident took place at SS Foam located at Makum Road.

A total of 7 labourers working in the factory sustained severe injuries in the explosion. They were rushed to the government hospital for medical assistance.

As per the information, the explosion took place when the workers were blending chemicals in the factory. Workers alleged that the factory did not have any safety provisions for the workers.

However, the reason of the blast is yet to be ascertained. The Tinsukia police after getting the cognizance of the incident rushed to the incident spot and started an investigation into the incident.

“We have rushed to the spot after getting the cognizance of the incident and started an investigation into the incident,” a police officer said.

It may be mentioned that the factory started its functions after the relaxation to the lockdown was given by the government. The Central Government enforced the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown on May 18 with considerable relaxation to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The first phase of the lockdown was enforced on March 25 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 21 days which was later extended.
