Assam: Five arrested for raping minor girl in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Police on Thursday arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a minor girl at Jitpur village under Bishmuri police outpost in Kokrajhar district of Assam.

According to Inside Northeast reports, the heinous crime took place on October 26 while Vijaya Dashami celebrations were going on.

According to family members of the victim,the accused persons took the minor girl away by force and gang raped her.

Police arrested the five accused after family members of the minor girl lodged an FIR with police.

The FIR was registered at the Kokrajhar police station, bearing case no.637/2020, under section 376(DA) IPC/R/W section 6 of the POCSO Act.

The arrestees have been identified as Krishna Murmu(25), Baburam Murmu(19), Lakhan Murmu(26), Sakhal Hasda(21) and Supal Hembrom (30).

Binanda Basumatary, Officer-in-Charge of the police station said that the police will be taking "strict action" against the perpetrators of the crime.
