The fourth day of the first wave of flood 716 number of villages in Seven number of district Viz. Hojai, Cachar, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Karbi Anglong(East) and West Karbi Anglong of Assam are affected. Three persons, in which one from Hojai and two from Cachar lost their lives today in the Flood which affected a population of 4,25,373.
Places like Brahmaputra at Neamatighat (Jorhat), Dhansiri at Numaligarh (Golaghat), Jia Bharali at N.T. Rd Xing (Sonitpur), Kopili at Kampur (Nagaon), Barak at A.P. Ghat (Cachar) and Badarpurghat (Karimganj), Katakhal at Matizuri (Hailakandi), Kushiyara at Karimganj (Karimganj) are flowing above danger level.
The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams have been engaged into service in the flood affected areas for search and rescue operation where 340 persons have been rescued from Karimganj district, Hailakandi, and Cachar by them and 191 number of Camps and are operational in Karimganj, Hailakandi, Karbi Anglong (west), Hojai, Cachar and Golaghat with 1,00,010 inmates and also 22 number of Relief Distribution Centres are operational in Karbi Anglong (west), Hojai, Cachar and Golaghat .
Rainfall triggered landslide occurred at Mahur, Harangajao, Maibang, Dima Hasao in which one person lost his life and 114 houses were fully damaged. Landslide incidents have also been reported in Kamakhya Nursery and 2 No. Kahilipara in Kamrup Metro. No casualty has been reported so far.
