The state’s first ever youth football league, the Greater Guwahati Baby League (GGBL), underway at Guwahati’s Nehru Stadium. 56 teams comprising of 400 players are participating in the event.
The league, which will be divided into four age-groups, will be help for a period of four months. The participants are aged between 6-13 years. Matches will be held on Sundays.
The opening day of the league was attended by various dignitaries which included Assam Football Association Secretary Ankur Dutta.
It may be mentioned that this league, which is based on the European and South American model, has already been introduced in various Indian states such as Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
