Assam girl trafficked from Hojai district rescued at Dhubri

DHUBRI: A team of Dhubri Childline along with police on Tuesday night rescued a 16 years old girl who was trafficked on June 19 from the Paschim Jamuna Gaon area at Hojai district.

The Officials of Childline and Police informed that one Azizul Hoque Khandakar fled with the minor from her residence and was trying to force her to wed him.

"Khandakar was threatening the family of the minor girl that if she did not marry him, he will hand her over for prostitution by selling her," police informed.

The family of the minor contacted Hojai Police and during an investigation, it was revealed that the alleged kidnapper of the minor girl was from the Dhubri area and was hiding in the town.

After giving chase for more than 48 hours, the team succeeded in rescuing the minor girl, who has been kept in a child home in Dhubri town.

It has also been informed that within a short time, the child will be handed to her parents and Hojai Childline eventually.
