GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Tuesday issued fresh SOPs for the containment of COVID-19.
In the official statement, the state government declared 7 districts including Golaghat, Jorhat, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur and Goalpara as total containment zones for showing high positivity rates.
Golaghat has recorded the highest positivity rate of 5.64 percent among the 7 districts. The district has been registering high positivity rates consistently.

It recorded a total of 333 cases of COVID-19 on July 5 as stated by the state government.
The state government further announced that there will be a total ban on movement of all public and private transport in the total containment districts. However, movement of goods shall continue.
Public gathering is strictly prohibited in these districts. In other districts, up to 10 persons are allowed for marriage or funeral programme.
Districts with moderate positivity rate including Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta. Nalbari, Baksa, Bajali, Kamrup, Darang, Nagaon, Hojai, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Cachar, Karimganj and Karbi Anglong will have curfew hours from 2 PM to 5AM.
Eleven districts including Kamrup (M), Dhubri, South Salmara, Majuli, Bongaigaon, Chirang. Udalguri, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Charaideo and Hailakandi have shown progressive decline in positivity rate. These districts will have curfew hours from 5Pm to 5AM.
Dibrugarh and Sibasagar have been kept under close watch for one week.
