GUWAHATI: In view of the present COVID situation in Assam, a detailed SOP will be announced tomorrow between 11 am to 1 pm by the Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.
This was informed by the new state health minister Keshab Mahanta at the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government held this evening.
Minister Mahanta said no decision of imposing lockdown in Assam has taken yet but some strict COVID measures have been taken which will be announced by Assam chief SECY and state DGP tomorrow at 11 am.

The fresh SOP on COVID-19 will come into force from Thursday.
Minister Mahanta said that the Assam cabinet will meet every Wednesday now.
Decisions on the economic package on COVID-19 will be taken in the next cabinet, minister Mahanta added.
Earlier chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hinted that the government could take strict steps to control the second pandemic wave in the state.
Assam in the past 24 hours recorded the single-day highest of 77 COVID-19 deaths, taking the death toll in the state to 1,753.
On the other hand, the state's COVID-19 tally rose to 2.98 lakh as the state reported this year’s highest single-day spike of 5,803 new cases.
Assam currently has 37,500 active COVID-19 cases.
