The Assam government is likely to file an application in the Supreme Court to seek re-verification of the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in certain sensitive areas of the state.
The development comes a day after state and Central government officials heard the power-point presentation by NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela in New Delhi on Saturday.
According to reports, the officials present during the presentation took note of issues which they were not aware about earlier. Following the presentation, the Assam government will file its response at the SC by October 30 and at the same time, move an application for re-verification of the draft NRC in certain sensitive areas.
A source said the state government would insist on all 15 documents for the NRC modalities during the verification process.
