Assam: Govt to bear cremation cost of COVID patients

The Government of Assam recently announced that expenditure of up to Rs 5000/- will be allowed in each case of death of each COVID positive patient towards the cremation expenses.

The notice further informed that the relatives who are unable to bear the cremation expenses or do not receive the body, the fund for this purpose will be provided by NHM, Assam.

Assam Health & Family Welfare minister on Thursday said that there is any likely hood of a COVID-19 vaccine before December this year.

Addressing a gathering at a Plasma Donation Programme at Gauhati Medical College Hospital, Sarma further stated that the state government will arrange for vaccine and a therapeutic vaccine against the contagion in the month of December. Sarma added that the COVID-19 situation in Assam will remain challenging until the end of November. The cumulative infected tally for October and November will be more than 75000.

On Thursday, The state recorded 2739 COVID cases out of 35369 tested samples. Taking the total toll to 1,35,805.
