GUWAHATI: Assam Government announced a fresh set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) today which will remain in force from September 1 until further notice. The night curfew will be in effect from 9 PM to 5 AM across the state.
Briefing the new SOP, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta in a press conference informed that Students who have 2 to 3 months left to complete 18 years and cannot get vaccinated will also be allowed to join physical classes.
The physical classes for the post graduate, graduate, higher secondary final year, GNM/Nursing courses and that of technical institutions shall be allowed for students having at least single dose vaccine. Before the start of physical classes there will be a 3-day vaccination drive for students, faculty and staffs.
Hostels of educational institutions are allowed to open only for post graduate, graduate and higher secondary final year students with fully vaccinated residents,

All business/commercial establishments, Dine in Restaurants, hotels, resorts, Dhabas and other eateries, takeaway of food items from restuarants/Dhabas and other eateries, opening of sale counters, showrooms etc will be open up to 8 PM.
The official release further informed that Pillion riding on motorcycles shall be allowed with atleast single vaccinated persons and wearing of mask shall be compulsory.
Passengers who have received at least one dose of immunisation are eligible for intra-district transportation with 100 percent seating capacity. There will be no standing passengers allowed. Standing passengers will face heavy fines and drivers' licences and registrations for vehicles containing standing passengers would be cancelled.
Inter-district passenger transport with 100% seating capacity shall be allowed for passengers having at least single dose of vaccine. No standing passengers shall be allowed.
Meeting/Gathering at any open or closed spaces allowed upt o 50 single vaccinated person with prior intimation to local police. However, with prior permission of jurisdictional DC for maximum gathering upto 200 persons (at least single vaccinated) may be allowed for both public and private functions which will also be applicable for closed spaces subject to 50% of the hall capacity.
The release mentioned that Public gathering will be allowed for upto 50 single vaccinated persons for marriages/funerals/last rites programmes.
For religious places only 40 single vaccinated persons will be allowed per hour for iconic places and 20 single vaccinated persons per hour for other religious places.
However, Cinema and Theatre Hall shall remain closed till next review.
Other restrictions including declaration of containment zones and exemptions as notified in the order issued on August 17 shall continue to remain in force except those specifically modified.
