Assam Govt Makes it Compulsory for Companies to Keep Sanitary Pads at Workplace

Guwahati, November 20, 2019:

The Assam Government on Tuesday has made it compulsory for all factories and industries across the state to keep sanitary pads at the workplace to promote "hygiene among women".

Confirming this, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Assam's Minister for Industries confirmed the incident and said the initiative has been done keeping in mind the welfare of the working women.

"Government has made it mandatory for all factories and industries in the state to keep sanitary pads for the welfare of the working women in the factories", Chandra Mohan Patowary, Assam's Minister for Industries said.

Apart from this, the Government also approved the Assam Bamboo and Cane Policy that aims to utilize the bamboo and cane resources in the state through scientific management. The Government has also resolved to plant bamboos on 1,000 hectares of land.

The Assam cabinet has also approved Finance Autonomy to Veterinary Farmers Policy, Pig breeding policy, Goatery Farming policy, the development of tissue culture at the Rain Forest Research Institute located at Jorhat, Bamboo production through tissue culture at Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Forest Nursery.

In the meantime, the Assam cabinet has approved 35 official holidays and 31 restricted holidays for the year 2020.
