The Assam government spent Rs 27.23 crore on advertisements during the 11 months of 2017-18, revealed a query at the Assembly. In a written reply to a query by AGP MLA Pabindra Deka, Assam Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta informed that the state government incurred an expenditure of Rs 27,22,79,761 from April, 2017 till February, 2018. The Minister also informed that Rs 4.55 crore had been spent for giving advertisements in 14 national newspapers.
Ranjit Dutta said that out of the total expenditure, Rs 16.79 crore has already been released by the government whereas an amount of Rs 10.44 crore is due to various media houses. Dutta also informed that in addition to advertisements in media, the government had also sent a proposal of Rs 1.91 crore to the finance department for putting up hoardings in public places.
