A gynecologist from Kokrajhar in West Assam succumbed to COVID-19 on August 10th, 2020. The COVID-19 death toll in the district of Kokrajhar has gone up to three.

The deceased has been identified as Pramila Borkotoki, 67. She was posted in Tipkai Mini PHC of Kokrajhar district for the last few years under the National Health Mission (NHM). Borkotoky hailed from Kolkata.

Meanwhile, District surveillance and medical officer at RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar Dr Amol Mochary has been tested COVID-19 positive on Monday evening.

Assam has reported 2900 COVID-19 cases and six COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. With these, the total number of COVID-19 cases has gone up to 61737; of which 17997 are still active and 43586 have recovered so far.

The death toll has gone up to 151 with six new deaths. The deceased are Sanjib Kumar Bhuyan (52) of Sonapur; Subir Kumar Das (70) of Karimganj; Salil Choudhury (58) of Dibrugarh; Kali Santosh Bhattacharjee (68), Chandan Mahanta (26) and Ashok K Choudhury (65) of Kamrup Metro.

India recorded 53,601 new Covid-19 infections and 871 deaths in the 24 hours ending 9 am Tuesday. This took the country’s coronavirus tally to 22,68,676, the Union Health Ministry said. Of the 22,68,676 cases, 69.80 per cent of the patients (15,83,490) had recovered, while 28.21 per cent (6,39,929) were still being treated. With less than 2 per cent deaths, fatalities stand at 45,257.
