With Eid-al-Adha round the corner, the Hailakandi district administration appealed for peaceful and harmonious observance of the festival.
At a meeting convened by the administration on Monday with the religious leaders, senior citizens, members of Iddgah committees and mosques, imams and representatives of political parties, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli appealed to people across every community to enjoy the Eid-al-Adha with peace and harmony.
Jalli asked everyone to remain alert to thwart the sinister designs of certain forces out to create disturbance in the society.
Superintendent of Police, Mohneesh Mishra said strict security arrangements will be made to ensure safety of those celebrating the religious festival.
Additional SP, Barun Purkayastha said security arrangements would be in place in cattle markets and during transportation of sacrificial animals to different places across the district. Necessary directions have been given to the police stations and outposts to beef up security at the cattle markets to keep anti-social elements at bay.
The religious leaders and political representatives while extending support and cooperation to the district administration appealed to everyone to observe the Eid in a harmonious and peaceful manner.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, EL Faehriem and other senior officials of the administration were present on the occasion.
