Assam Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma on August 15th, 2020 claimed that the state has been successful in curbing COVID-19. She urged all sections of the society to join hands in fighting the deadly disease.

It may be mentioned that the COVID-19 tally has gone up to 74501 in the state; of which 22630 are still active and 51693 have recovered while the death toll has increased to 175.

Brahma hoisted the National Flag at the Kokrajhar Govt. HS & MP school parade ground. The occasion was celebrated maintaining strict COVID-19 protocol.

Along with rest of the country, Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) celebrated the 74th Independence Day with pomp and gaiety. All the four districts of BTAD joined the I-Day celebrations despite the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining social distancing and other protocols. Celebrations were held in all the district headquarters and sub-divisional headquarters amidst strict security vigil. People from all age groups participated the celebrations in large numbers. Besides Kokrajhar, Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora sub division celebrated the Independence Day 2020.

Meanwhile, Assam Irrigation minister Bhabesh Kalita unfurled the tri-colour organized at Mushalpur. In Udalguri, Public Health Engineering minister Rihan Daimary hoisted the National Flag in the ceremony organized by the district administration at the Udalguri College playground. Daimary highlighted his government’s work for the welfare of the people of the state. On the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner Ratul Baruah hoisted the national flag at Kajalgaon parade ground in Chirang.
