GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that over 2.57 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine are available in the state.
The minister said that a total of 20,98,162 people have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine in the state so far.
He said that as many as 16,59,145 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine across the state and 4,39,017 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
A total of 76,380 people were administered the vaccine yesterday.
At least 15 COVID-19 patients succumbed to their infection yesterday, taking the death toll in Assam to 1,215.
On the other hand, the state yesterday recorded 3,137 fresh COVID-19 cases with Kamrup (M) reporting 1153 cases alone. The district also recorded eight deaths during the past 24 hours.
With this, the state’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 2,40,670.
Dibrugarh district recorded a total of 268 new cases and three deaths, while Kamrup reported 255 new cases followed by Darrang with 127 cases.

At least two deaths were reported from Barpeta district, while Goalpara recorded a single death yesterday.
Assam currently has 17,764 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,20,344 patients have recovered from the disease, including 828 yesterday.
