Assam Health & Family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited COVID-19 patients at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) wearing a Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). During his visit, Sarma reviewed the treatment facilities of the COVID Care Hospital. Sarma interacted with the patients admitted at the Hospital.Sarma, while interacting with the doctors, advised them to maintain a constant vigil. He also urged the doctors to take proper care and precautions.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 situation in the state maintained its menacing nature. 1292 people were infected by the contagion in the last 24 hours out of 15515 tests conducted. Kamrup Metro accounted for most of these cases, followed by Jorhat and Lakhimpur. Another 16 people succumbed to COVID-19 today in the state
