Heavy rain accompanied by hailstorm lashed many parts in Western Assam on May 26, 2020. Dholmara under Salakati Police Station in Kokrajhar district was adversely affected by the hailstorm.

The storm also caused damages in some other parts of the district. Trees were uprooted at different places leading to destruction of properties.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were pressed into service.

On the other hand, the artificial flood caused by the incessant rain that remained unabated has submerged several parts in the district. This has disrupted public movement in the region.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, has forecasted heavy rainfall in Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Chirang and Kokrajhar while very heavy rainfall in Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar, Goalpara, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Baksa and Nalbari district on May 27th, 2020.
