Assam: Illegal Saw Mill Busted, Timber Worth Rs 7 Lakh Seized

Guwahati, January 12, 2020:

The Chidali and Chirang police on Saturday raided an illegal saw mill and seized illegal timber logs worth lakhs of rupees from Chidali Dangsibari in Assam’s Chirang district.

Speaking on the seizure, DSP Pratap Das of Chirang Police said that an operation was laid based on local inputs and accordingly, the police seized illegally cut timbers worth Rs 7 lakh and also an illegal saw mill machine that was used for the process.

However, no arrests have been made so far, Das informed.

Meanwhile, Runikhata Forest Ranger, Jashamsnik Mashahary said that they were informed by the police about the development and reached the spot to check the seized materials.

He mentioned that many illegal logs were discovered at the mill, which has been seized by the authorities. Valuable timbers such as Sal were also seized from the illegal mill.
