Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Chief Akhil Gogoi is ready to form a new political party in Assam that is "inclusive" in nature, says Assam Congress leader Kamal Kumar Medhi.
According to Medhi, the party under the leadership of Gogoi will be to block the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam.
“I met my friend Akhil Gogoi in the jail today. I had a long conversation with him. While talking to him, I felt that he wants to form a new political party. He is mentally ready to form an inclusive regional political party," said Medhi.

According to him, the regional parties in Assam should unite and fight against the BJP. "We want a party, which does not oppose to democratic protests and works for the welfare of the public. A revolutionary regional political party is about to be formed in Assam," he added.
The reports about formation of new regional political party in Assam has been doing the rounds since the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in the Rajya Sabha. The latest one under the leadership of Akhil Gogoi comes in the wake of continued agitation against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
