The Indigenous People Forum (IPF) has called for an indefinite bandh in Dima Hasao district of Assam from 11 February, 2020, onwards.
Samsuddin Jeme, the working President of the IPF, informed that during the bandh that was called today by the IPF, a clash erupted between the bandh supporters and some group.
The IPF has decided that the bandh supporters were provoked and challenged by miscreants. In reaction to this, the IPF has decided to call for an indefinite bandh from February 11, onwards.

The president of the IPF also said that if the Government decides to cooperate before the announced bandh date, the IPF will mull over its decision to call for a bandh.
It may be mentioned here that a 12-hour ‘bandh’ had been called on February 6 by the Indigenous People Forum (IPF), a local organization. The stated reason was the “demand of immediate implementation of the task force report for creation of separate district with a separate Autonomous Council under the prevention of article of 244 (2) & 275 (1) of the sixth schedule to the constitution of India.”

However, things took a turn for the worse when ‘bandh’ supporters were confronted by a bunch of irate locals, and a scuffle broke out between the two factions. Later, the police and the district administration were summoned to bring the situation under control and the streets are currently being patrolled by policemen looking to quell the tense situation.
