Assam Jawan Injured in Jharkhand Blast Reunites with Family

Boko, June 3, 2019:

Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Mijanur Rahman who hails from Boko in Assam’s Kamrup district, finally reached his home at around 1 am on Monday. He was injured during a Naxal attack while he was posted with the 209 CoBRA battalion in Jharkhand.

Out of the fifteen personnel of the 209 CoBRA battalion, who were injured in the IED blast, three were from Assam. Apart from Mijanur Rahman, Sunil Kalita from Dimu under Rangia, and Sambhu Mala from Hojai were also injured in the dastardly attack in Jharkhand.

Speaking to media persons, Mijanur Rahman has revealed that Sunil Kalita and Sambhu Mala are now out of danger, but they still admitted in the Bhagawan Mahavir Medica Super speciality Hospital in Ranchi.

Mijanur has said that in the incident, the Naxals had blasted 21 IEDs remote and soon after had started firing at the jawans with machine guns. He says that he saw many of his brothers-in-arms fall down right in front of his eyes, yet the CRPF unit started retaliating.

He also informs that the injured jawans were rescued within one hour by airlifting. He has come home for a period of ten days, but is expected to be back with his team on June 13.

Mijanur Rahman’s recuperation is going well, but he still complains of aches sometimes.

Mijanur’s friends have also been very supportive after the incident. His longtime friend Laba Sarania he was gried-stricken after hearing about his friend's injury, but after speaking with him and meeting with him, it has turned into pride.

Meanwhile, Mijanur’s father Surat Jamal is all smiles after seeing his son's recovery and says that he prayed for his son and his colleagues after the tragic incident.

Members of the Boko Press Club also meet him today in his house and wished him a speedy recovery. This young son of Assam will head to more battlefields and will continue making his family as well as the whole state proud.
