The holy month of Shrawan commenced on Monday amid restrictions for prevention of Covid-19 spread and devotees prefer to worship Lord Shiva at home. This the time of the year when the famous Kanwar yatra is undertaken by the devotees.
No Kanwar-yatra was seen on the roads of the state this Sunday.
The priest of Rudra-Rudransh temple in Tinsukia said only limited people were allowed to perform Rudrabhishek by taking all precautionary measures and maintaining social distancing norms.
" This is a very good sign that the people are taking the COVID-19 norms fixed by the government very seriously. They are worshipping Lord Shiva at home. It's praiseworthy as it will reduce the chance of an increase in corona positive cases", he said.

Almost all people offered prayers at the Shivalaya inside their homes and read the Holy Shiva Purana.
Madhu Bora (42) of Sivasagar said, “The priest conducted the rituals and we prayed at home. It is risky to go out when the Covid-19 cases are increasing,” she said.
Many women and girls applied henna on this occasion, whereas the non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited in several homes during this month.
There are for more Mondays in this year's Shrawan month on the day the Lord Shiva is worshipped.
However, it would be disappointing for priests, businessman and vehicles' owner this year as their earnings will be almost nothing this time.
