The Kokrajhar Police on Thursday seized a huge quantity of Marijuana from an 18 wheeled truck in National Highway 31 under the supervision of OC Jitesh Barman.
The team of Kokrajhar Police seized 20 packets of marijuana weighing one quintal. The seized Marijuana is estimated to be worth Rs 20 lakhs in the market.
According to official reports, the truck carrying the marijuana bearing registration no. NL 02 Q 6508 was heading towards West Bengal from Agartala.
The truck driver, who has been identified as Shyam Kumar Mahat, has been arrested.
Further investigation is on.
It is to be mentioned that on July 29, the train checking staff of Guwahati Railway Police on Monday seized 45 kilos of suspected marijuana worth Rs 5 lakhs and apprehended a man and a woman in relation to the case.
