The deputy speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Aminul Haque Laskar has been tested positive for the COVID-19 on July 28th, 2020.
With seven new COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours in Assam, the tally has gone up to 86, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed. The deceased are Tulsi Prasad Deuri (59) from Jorhat, Joy Singh Bey (59) from East Karbi Anglong, Mevina Begum (26) from Kamrup (M), Dr GMS Chowdhury (72) from Dibrugarh, Ajoy Mahato (35), Puspa Roy (75) and Dinesh Chandra Das (50) from Tinsukia.
A total of 21,742 tests were conducted on July 27th, 2020; of which 1348 were detected COVID-19 including 155 from Guwahati. Positivity rate was 6.19 percent.
Of the 33576 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 8085 are still active and 25,402 have recovered. A total of 1362 patients were recovered.
The COVID-19 positivity rate was 6.98 percent on July 24th, 2020 which was 5.25 percent on July 23rd, 2020, 5 percent on July 20th, 2020 and 9.2 percent on July 21st, 2020.

The state crossed 20,000 mark in COVID-19 cases on July 16th, 2020 while crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.
With 654 new deaths and 47,704 new cases reported in last 24 hours, the tally has gone up to 14,83,156. The death toll is now 33425, as per data released by the Union Health Ministry. Active cases in India stand at 496988 while 952743 have been cured or discharged so far.
Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 13 thousand deaths. It has recorded 147896 active corona cases, 221944 cured and 13883 deaths. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has 10994 active corona cases, 116372 cured and 3853 deaths. Tamil Nadu has 54896 active cases, 3571 deaths. Gujarat with 13146 active COVID-19 cases, 41380 cured and 2348 deaths.
