The mobile internet services in Assam were finally resumed on Friday morning, sixteen hours later the Gauhati High Court ordered the internet service providers to resume services on Thursday.
The internet in the northeastern state was snapped following the massive protests and law & order situation over the citizenship law.

The mobile internet ban was finally lifted from 9 am on Friday, much to the rescue of the general public. Broadband services in the state had already been restored.
It may be mentioned here that the Gauhati High court, in its order, had also directed the authorities to take steps to curb and stop dissemination of sensational messages and videos on various social media platforms, which may have the tendency to incite violence and disruptions, thereby affecting public safety on cogent and justifiable grounds and matter.

As many as four petitions were filed against the suspension of the mobile internet services for which the first hearing was held on December 17, in which the HC ordered to restore the internet service by 3 pm. However, the state authorities filed a review petition on the HC’s order and the HC pronounced the next hearing on Thursday.
