Assam: Loaded timber & band saw seized by forest personnel

GUWAHATI: A truck carrying loaded sawn timber was recovered at Bangha in Karimganj on Thursday.

The vehicle was fully loaded with teak logs when Range Officer, Sadar and AFPF personnel seized it and brought it to the Divisional Forest Office.

The logs were loaded in Mizoram and transported through Hailakandi district, the driver revealed during interrogation.

In another incident on Thursday, forest officers from the Barpeta Road Range seized an illegal band saw mill in the Karekun area of the Sarbhog Beat Office and brought the machinery and other items into safe custody.
