'Majuli' singer Nilotpal Hazarika, has cautioned the people of Assam against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, and demanded the Government to release incarcerated peasant leader, Akhil Gogoi.
Informing that Gogoi has been arrested by the authorities, and is being kept at a secret location, the Assam crooner alleged that the peasant firebrand must be supported by the people of the state and he must be released at once.

Bora said that although Akhil is perceived differently by different sections of the people. the people of the State should extend their support to him. "Presently, we should view him as a revolutionary who has protested with proof and evidence. Thus, that is how we must perceive him now."
Hazarika released the video along with the caption:
[Translation: Release Akhil Gogoi at the earliest. This is our demand, or else the revolution will take a dire turn; In addition, Jiten Dutta, Amitabh Goswami, must also be released. Let us all protest together, come]
It may be mentioned here that Akhil has been booked under the Unlawful Assembly Prevention Act (UAPA) by the NIA, allegedly for “waging a war against the nation”.
Gogoi's custody amid the protests has been observed as a major setback to the indigenous organisations of Assam as Gogoi has been playing an active role in the statewide protests over the C(A)A.
