Assam man appeals to son to desert ULFA

Guwahati (Assam), September 13, 2018:

Twenty years after cooling his heels in a jail and his subsequent release, an Assam man comes to know that his son has joined insurgent group United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).

On Thursday, the man, Nabin Baruah, appealed to his 26-year-old son, Sonjib Baruah alias ‘Papu’, to return home.

Baruah was sentenced to imprisonment for murdering his wife in 2003. He was lodged in Sivasagar District Jail since September 1998 and later shifted to Sonari District Jail before being released on June 26 this year. He now lives with his elder brother at Leferagaon in Sonari town.
