Assam Man Strangles Wife to Death Over Illicit 'Affair'

Moran, November 24, 2019:

A man in Assam's Dibrugarh district killed his wife, due to alleged jealousy over an extra-marital affair.

The man, identified as Deepak Majhi, strangled his wife, Devi Majhi over an illicit affair. He hails from Moran in Dibrugarh.

According to reports, the man strangled his wife to death on the basis of suspicion. The man in question, Deepak Maji, is a resident of Deudhai Bongali gaon under the Moran Police station. Majhi killed his wife in the dead of night.

Speaking to authorities, the man said that he killed his wife because she was having a physical relationship with another man. He informed that he had been having suspicions since 2018, but found proof that she was indeed having an affair only recently. "I killed her by strangling her. I tried to make her understand, but she did not understand", he said.

According to reports, the Moran authorities have nabbed the suspect.
