Guwahati, 14 December, 2018:
Bodo organizations such as ABSU, NDFB(P) and PJACBM organized a mass gathering at the Barama High School playground in Baksa district. They came together to reaffirm their motto of “no solution, no rest, no Bodoland no rest” in what has been described as a “united voice for Bodoland”. The movement groups have announced that they are not willing to compromise on their demand of an autonomous state, Bodoland.
The Bodo movement has alleged that due to discrimination against Bodos in the region, they have been unable to avail any benefits as the ruling clique of Assam has overlooked their concerns since independence. They demanded equal rights and confirmed that the Bodoland movement will continue until the government permanently resolves the issue. They cited the examples of other tribes of NE region who are feeling more secure in terms of protection of their land, identity, language and culture after gaining sovereignty from Assam.
