A total of 14 more persons have been tested positive for the COVID-19 taking the total to 135 in Assam. Of the 14 cases, seven are from Kamrup district, one from Nagaon and two each from Hojai, Biswanath, and Nalbari district.

Appealing the people of the state to not to step out of their homes, the state Health Minster Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted:
Earlier the day, six COVID19 cases – two each from Jorhat and Golaghat and one each from Kokrajhar and Nagaon in Assam – were detected in the state. “One Jorhat patient had returned from Chennai, while other came from Darjeeling,” Sarma said.

The patients - Chandan Deka, 25, of Baihata Chariali; Pranab Kalita, 26, of Baranghati, Kamrup; Ajay Kalita, 28, of Rangia; Nabajit Kalita, 25 of Kamrup; Dharani Kalita, 26, of Baranghati, Kamrup; Gauri Nayak 19, of Biswanath Chariali; Rakhi Basfore of Biswanath Chariali and Utpal Kalita, 32, of Baranghati, Kamrup – have travel history to Haryana. On the other hand, a two-year-old boy of Hojai and Sufaddin Ahmed, 26, of Hojai have travel history to Mumbai while Himashree Bora, 21, of Nagaon has travel history from Rajasthan and Amir Hussain, 20, of Chaygaon, Kamrup (R) in Assam have travel history to Calcutta.

The coronavirus has infected a total of 1,01,139 people and claimed 3163 lives across the country so far. Maharashtra is the first state to cross a thousand deaths. It has recorded 35,058 corona cases with 8,437 cured and 1,249 deaths. The western state is followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Gujarat has corona 11,745 cases with 4,804 cured and 694 deaths. Tamil Nadu has crossed 11,760 cases with 4,406 cured and 81 deaths. The National Capital with 10,054covid19 cases has crossed the 10 thousand mark on18th May. So, far4485 have been cured in Delhi with 168 deaths.
