Not a single person involved in the brutal murder of Lafiqul Islam has been arrested even after three years of the incident, the All BTC Minority Students Union, Assam said.

The students’ body slammed the state government for not initiating any steps to identify the involved Lafiqul Islam Ahmed murder case and demanded immediate publishing of the CBI report publicly.

The students’ union on August 1st, 2020 observed third death anniversary of Ahmed, former ABMSU president, at different anchalik committees maintaining social distancing during the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic in four districts of the BTAD and staged protest demonstration seeking identification and punished the involved culprits with Lafiqul murder case.

Lafiqul was shot dead by armed miscreants at Titaguri Bazar in Kokrajhar on 1st August, 2017. The state government had handed over the investigation responsibility to CBI to make inquiry into murder case just within few months of the incident, but seeing snail pace into investigation reports publishing publicly.

ABMSU expressed unhappy over the delaying process of publishing the investigation reports of the central bureau of investigation (CBI) into Lafikul Islam Ahmed, former president of the student union, and demanded identification of the involved culprits. The students’ union alleged that although three-year passed of the Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder case. Neither culprits were booked nor CBI's reports come out publicly as CBI had investigated into the murder cases.

ABMSU leader, Nazrul Islam strongly criticized the BJP led state government for not fulfilling promises that kept before the union after the murder case. He alleged that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has failed to accord investigation report properly into murder case as he kept promises to take stern actions against the incident. He has termed that CM Sonowal is a "great liar chief minister" in the state of Assam and hence ABMSU is not getting justice into Lafiqul murder case.

Islam has warned to take strong protest agitation in support of seeking justice into Lafiqul murder case in days to coming.
