Assam: MLA Ajanta Neog removed from Congress party

GOLAGHAT: Assam MLA Ajanta Neog, who is reportedly in talks with the top leadership of the BJP to join the saffron party has been removed as the President of the Golaghat Congress Unit.

Issuing a notice in this regard, Assam Congress General Secretary Ranjan Bora stated that Neog "is hereby removed from the post of DCC President with immediate effect."

He further stated that this has the approval of the All India Congress Committee.

Earlier, Neog took part in a discussion with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati. It is expected that the senior Congress leader is expected to switch to the BJP, in what is expected to be a major setback to the APCC ahead of the polls.
