Assam MLA Leho Ram Boro suffers stroke amid COVID-19 fight; admitted to ICU

GUWAHATI: Assam MLA Leho Ram Boro's health took a turn for the worse last night after he suffered a stroke while receiving treatment for the COVID-19 disease in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) last night.

Boro, who represents Tamulpur Legislative assembly constituency Leho Ram Boro is admitted at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in a critical condition at the present moment and has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Leho Ram Boro arrived at Tamulpur Primary Health Centre in the early morning Thursday as he suffered from some physical illness.

Boro tested COVID-19 positive yesterday and was immediately shifted out to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for better treatment.

He was put in the intensive care unit at night after his health deteriorated last night and he is undergoing treatment in critical condition till the time of filing this report.

Earlier today, Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Bishwajit Daimary, BTC MCLA Bijit Goora Narjary, and BJP leader Somnath Basumtary reached Guwahati Medical College Hospital to take stock of the ailing MLA's health.

Assam reported 5,704 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, informed the state government. With this, the cumulative case count in the state has reached 3,92,574. The northeastern state also saw 4,784 recoveries and 83 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tallies to 3,34,418 and 3,088 respectively.
