Assam: Mortal remains of Pranay Kalita martyred in Manipur militant attack to arrive home today

Mortal remains of Pranay Kalita of Assam Rifles, to arrive at his home in Ghatbar Saderi Village in Barpeta district, Assam. Kalita was martyred during a militant attack in Manipur where three soldiers of Assam Rifles have been killed while six others are left injured in a deadly ambush on the Army unit near the Myanmar border in Chandel district south of Imphal in Manipur.

The ambush took place late on Wednesday night at a location 100 km south of Imphal near the Myanmar border in Sajik Tampak in Chandel district.

The three jawans of 4 AR who attained martyrdom have been identified as No. 412160 Hav/GD Pranay Kalita, No. 5009574 Rfn/GD Ratan Salam and No. 5005839 Rfn/GD Methna Konyak.

They are being shifted to JNIMS mortuary at the time of filing of this story. The jawans who sustained minor injuries are being shifted to MH.

On July 29, the Army unit had launched an area domination patrol in Khongtal when the patrol team was returning, insurgents detonated an IED and opened fire.

The DC, Barpeta, Munin Sarma, and Superintendent of Police, Rabin Kumar Singh,has visited Pranay Kalita's home and met the family memebrs.

There was a wreath laying ceremony to honour the supreme sacrifice by Havildar Pranay Kalita, Rifleman Methna Konyak and Rifleman Ratan Salam of the Assam Rifles, in line of duty on 29 July in Manipur, with full military honours was organised at Tulihal Airport, Imphal.
