Coming forward to aid in a time of crisis, Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, Biswajit Daimary of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) party today came forward to make a donation of Rs 1 lakh to the Government in its fight against the novel coronavirus or COVID-19.
Noting the contribution of the MP, Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, tweeted out, "Gratitude Hon MP Sri " data-focusable="true">@DaimaryMp for making a generous contribution of Rs 1 lakh in our fight against data-focusable="true">#COVID19. In this critical time, each & every help is hugely significant."
Earlier in the day, a tiny tot had also made a small yet significant contribution in the fight against the new coronavirus, the seventh to infect humans.

Sharing a photo of her handing over the amount, the Assam Minister wrote, "Miss Chetna Gupta, D/o of Smt. Meanwhile, Assam is braced for a "major outbreak" after one of the 29 patients in the state, a 65-year-old from Hailakandi district died due to complications from the disease.
The Health Minister earlier today informed that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits have been sent to the medical colleges in the State.
“Gauhati Medical College has 2,000 kits, Dibrugarh Medical has 1,000, Jorhat Medical, Barpeta Medical, Silchar Medical College, Tezpur Medical College have 1,000 PPE kits each. Guwahati’s Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital has 500 kits.
The Assam Health Minister assured that PPE kits and N95 masks are available in the State. He also informed that one lakh rapid test kits will be brought to the State and in the next three days, 50,000 kits of PPE will arrive in the State.
