In a meeting organized at Swahid Nyas Bhawan in Guwahati today,  North East Students Organization (NESO) stood stout with its firm take on the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016. It came up with certain demands to be placed in front of the Centre on behalf of the North Eastern States. The member of NESO stated that there will be an agitation program tomorrow around 11 am in Guwahati. It also informed of a massive agitation to be launched in the entire NorthEast on 21st May.

The adviser of NESO and chief adviser of All Assam Students Union(AASU)Samujjal Bhattacharya  stated that NESO has demanded for special Constitutional rights to be accorded to the Northeastern States. It also placed it's demand for Inner Line Permit to NE states as Constitutional safeguard.

Bhattacharjya stated that NorthEast is not a dumping ground if the Hindu Bangladeshis and that NESO placed its points clear in front if the JPC's hearing in Shillong  on Citizenship Amendment Bill on 10th May. Raising about the updating of NRC which is under process in Assam, it demanded updating of NRC across all the states of North East.

NESO has also stated about it's proposal of establishing a agitation program in New Delhi. In a nutshell,  the organization has made a wholesome opposition of the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill.
