Criticising the new education policy adopted by the Centre, the former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said it has exposed Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s anti-poor attitude in all spheres of the policy of the country.

“The new education policy is going to be elitist, well to do families. Privatization and commercialization will go against the interest of the children of poor section. Thereby exposes Modi's anti-poor attitude in all spheres of the policy of the country,” the senior Congress leader tweeted.

On August 1st, 2020, the Assam government announced to form a 40-member committee headed by the Principal Secretary to the State Education Department to recommend how to implement the new education policy in the state.
