Guwahati, July 31, 2019:

A sensational incident has occurred at an NRC 'Seva Kendra' in Guwahati city of Assam. It has been reported that thieves ransacked the NRC 'Seva Kendra'.

Officials have said that the burglars entered the NRC Seva Kendra late at night on Tuesday. They opened trunks, laptops and important documents which were found in a mess when they were discovered the next day.

However, officials have said that nothing of importance was stolen after authorities had reached the site to assess the situation.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Guwahati City Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said: "There is no evidence to suggest that anything important has been stolen. Who did this and why they did this can only be ascertained after an extensive investigation. A team of police led by the DCP have reached the location to take stock of the situation. As of yet, this incident is still shrouded in mystery."

It is to be mentioned that the final draft Assam NRC will be published on August 31 after it was delayed from the original date of July 31.
