One bicycle rider was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Sulung area in Assam’s Kaliabor.
A Bolero Pik-Up, reportedly, crashed into a bicycle rally in Nagaon’s Kaliabor, following which one died on the spot and two others were injured seriously.

The deceased has been identified as Anjali Rai. She was pursuing graduation in Tezpur University. The two others were rushed to a nearby health centre.

According to reports, the cycle rally was carried out from Tezpur to Kaziranga under the banner of National Cadet Corps (NCC). However, the bicycle rally was conducted without informing the NCC authorities, suggests reports. The NCC is yet to take stock of the road accident.
It may be mentioned here that road accidents have been increasing at a faster pace across the country. According to a report by the State Police, Assam ranked 16th in terms of road accidents last year. It said that 30 people were killed and 89 injured in every 100 accidents in the state.
Eight people were killed and 20 injured in an average in road accidents in the state every day last year, it added.
