Assam: Over 2 quintal rice seized by Tamulpur police

At a time when corona crisis is gripping the state of Assam, a rice scam has been unearthed in Tamuplur. The Tamulpur PS on Saturday West Gandhibari arrested Hitesh Kalita and seized 5 bags containing total eight of 250 KG. Per bag contains 50 kg. Another associated is Dipan Swargiary. An FIR has been filed. According to a source, the rice was stolen from West Defeli godown and was intended to be sold in black market sell.

Earlier, one more COVID-19 positive person died at Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital early this morning in Assam. The death toll gone up two in Kokrajhar due to COVID positive. He was identified as Tapan Das(56) of Santinagar. The death toll has increased to 102 cases.

With these, the COVID-19 cases count has gone up to 41726; of which 11265 are still active and 30357 have recovered.
