Kokrajhar, March 12, 2020:

With the election fever taking over the entire Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) areas, as many as 2000 members of United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and several other parties have formally joined the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Thursday.

Parbatjhora BPF candidate and District president Moon Moon Brahmo said, “2000 people hailing from Porbotiya district, belonging to UPPL, ABSU supporters and other political parties today have officially joined BPF. So we believe that their support will aid us in defeating our opponents.”

Brahmo accused the UPPL and ABSU of exploiting public funds and resolved to sweep the elections that are slated for April 4. “Since the past fifteen years, leaders with the support of ABSU and UPPL, have engaged in money laundering and loot in the district. This is the reason why their supporters have come forward to join us and end this exploitation,” said Moon Moon.

It may be mentioned here that with election campaigns in full swing, leaders have geared up to win the elections. While the disbanded National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) leaders Gobind Basumatary, BR Ferenga and former ABSU leader Pramod Boro have joined hands with the UPPL, 2000 members of the two groups have sided with the BPF.
