Over a lakh women joined the proceedings at a huge election rally headed by Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) supremo Hagrama Mohilary held by the ruling Bodoland People's Front (BPF) at Bishmuri in Kokrajhar district of Assam.
This massive show of strength comes amid murmurs that the BPF, that has been the first-choice of BTC voters since the formation of the Council, could be losing its magic touch.

Rajya Sabha MP and BPF Working President Biswajit Daimary, addressing the media on the sidelines of the massive rally, said that the participation of women in such great number that his party is the clear favourite in the BTC polls, due sometime in April. "News media is saying the condition of BPF is bad. Today, lakhs of women supporters of the BPF have come out. And whoever has the support of the women, controls everything", the Assam Rajya Sabha MP said.
Daimary also said the participation of women proves that the party is strong and ever and many people who had earlier supported other political units are now rooting for the ruling party to continue its domination in BTC polls.
"We have not counted how many seats we will win, but the Government will be formed by the alliance formed by the BPF-BJP-AGP alliance", Daimary told the media, and exuded confidence that if the alliance remains intact, all 40 of the seats up for grabs could be won.
