Assam Police issues advisory for heavy vehicles in Kaziranga

The overall flood situation in Assam is deteriorating with each passing as the rising Brahmaputra river and its tributaries inundated vast tracts in 16 districts of the state and affected over 2,50,000 people.

GUWAHATI: The overall flood situation in Assam is deteriorating with each passing as the rising Brahmaputra river and its tributaries inundated vast tracts in 16 districts of the state and affected over 2,50,000 people. Considering the flood situation at Kaziranga National Park, the Assam police issued advisory for all heavy vehicles passing the area.

Till significant decrease in flood situation, the police directed that all the heavy vehicles including good carriage vehicles will be directed through the below mentioned routes from today onwards.

From Upper Assam :

Dibrugarh-via Bogibeel Bridge- North Bank- Lower Assam.

From Lower Assam :

a) Saraighat Bridge- Baihata- North bank- Bogibeel Bridge- Upper Assam

b) Rangia- Baihata- North Bank- Bogibeel Bridge Upper Assam

Vehicles to Upper Assam that have crossed Guwahati:

Via Kaliabhomora Bridge- North Bank- Bogibeel Bridge-Upper Assam.

The flood situation in Assam took a turn for the worse on Sunday with more than 2,50,000 people across 16 districts bearing the brunt of heavy rainfall and 6,200 being forced to take shelter in relief camps.

According to the daily flood situation report, the Brahmaputra was flowing at “above normal to severe flood situations” in Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Goalpara, Kamrup and Dhubri districts due to continuous rainfall.
