Assam: Police killed, three seriously injured in a fatal road accident

DHUBRI: In a head-on collision between police escort vehicle and a bolero pickup carrying broiler chicken, on the late hours of Saturday night on National Highway 17 in Sataguri area under Bagribari police station at Kokrajhar district. The driver of the police escort vehicle died on spot and the condition of three other AP Bn are serious.

According to reports, the government car of Rituraj Doley, Sub-divisional police officer of Parbatjhora sub-division and his security vehicle Mahendra Bolero bearing registration AS-16E-0193 was on a night patrolling.

The accident took place on National Highway No-17 at Sataguri area under Bagribari police station bordering Dhubri district. The police escort vehicle from Bagribari police station lost control due to heavy rainfall the road was not visible and collided with the broiler chicken vehicle which was parked near the highway bearing registration WB-63A-9912.

As a result, the driver of the security car, Biju Barman (26) was dead on the spot leaving behind three other Assam Police battalion who were seriously injured.

The Sub-divisional police officer returned to the spot and rushed to get the emargency treatment to the injured police personnel to Dhubri Civil Hospital but the on duty Doctor referred all the three police personnels Gaurang Ghosh, Bikash Borah and Hasan Taniuzzaman to Guwahati Medical College Hospital for better treatment as their condition was critical.

A case has been registered against the broiler chicken vehicle and further inquiry is under process informed Rituraj Doley, Sub-divisional police officer, Parbatjhora.
