DIBRUGARH: The Assam Police has shot at a suspected cow smuggler named Md Akhtar Raja Khan alas Tiklu Khan on leg this morning in Dibrugarh, as per sources.
Tiklu Khan along with his two associates arrested by Dibrugarh police yesterday in connection with cow smuggling and a case was registered in Dibrugarh police under case no. 1339/21.
He was taken by police for search operations in different locations for further investigation.
As sources informed, the accused Tiklu Khan has sustained an injury in his right leg.

The police have seized as many as 95 cows from the possession of the three accused.

The police record states, one person died and nine others have sustained injuries in firing by the police since June 1 when the accused in each case allegedly tried to escape.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hs asserted that shooting at criminals "should be the pattern" if they attempt to escape from custody two days earlier in a meeting with the Officer-in-Charge of several police stations in Assam.
