GUWAHATI: In a bid to encourage female voters to exercise their franchise, the Kamrup Metropolitan Election District has considered detailing 125 all-women polling booths.

 

All the officials engaged in such booths will be manned exclusively by women.

 

This initiative towards gender equality is an attempt to boost women's participation in the electoral process, said an official release.

 

The Kamrup Metropolitan Election District has detailed a total of 10 polling booths in Jalukbari LAC, 65 polling booths in Guwahati (East) LAC, 20 in Guwahati (W) LAC and 30 in Dispur LAC.

 

Meanwhile, training for women Presiding Officers and polling officials has already commenced in Kamrup Academy H.S. School from 6th March and will continue till 17th March 2021.
